AUSTIN, TX March 13, 2020– Tree of Life Books has buds springing forth from its branches with energy and enthusiasm from our new Executive Director, Dorit Rotter Golan. Our mission as a 501(c)(3) organization is to increase the understanding of Jewish topics such as culture, literature, philosophy, religious practices, Jewish communities in the diaspora, art and history.  We also provide materials that document historical events that are of great significance to the Jewish community, such as the Holocaust.  We accomplish this by distributing books to schools, universities, public and religious libraries.

Tree of Life Books is excited to have Dorit bring her vision and enthusiasm, extending our mission to serve additional areas in the US.  She will establish our Houston office and will be responsible for fundraising, marketing, selecting new books and community outreach. As the financial health of the organization is fostered, we will hire additional team members and offer internship opportunities to high school and college students.

Tree of Life Books was founded in Austin by members of Congregation Agudas Achim and obtained its nonprofit status in 2011.  They passionately filled library shelves with a collection of Judaic literature.  “We have found that many libraries have few books on their shelves, or no sections about Jewish topics.  Many librarians are happy to receive the books we offer at no cost,” said Mike London, V.P of the Board. “Their budgets may be limited in what they can purchase, and they rely on donations from organizations, such as Tree of Life Books, to have a well-rounded collection of books.”
